What is Assisted Living?
Often referred to as an ALF, Assisted Living is a community environment that offers residents the opportunity to live as independently as possible while receiving assistance as needed with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs). Assisted Living is not a nursing home and individuals have to meet certain criteria in order to move into the residence. At Cypress Creek, our admissions team can help determine if Assisted Living is an appropriate option for you or your loved one.
How do I know it's time to look for an Assisted Living Residence?
Often, the primary indicator is the caregiver's well being; both mentally and physically. It is not unusual for the day-to-day challenges of caregiving to take its toll on family members. Assisted Living allows families to stay involved while their loved one gets the help he or she needs to be happy, healthy, safe, and secure.
Can I keep my own doctor?
Absolutely. We provide free transportation to local doctor's offices. We also have multiple in-house physicians, specialists, therapists and nurses who are regularly in our facility for your convenience.
How are medications managed?
We utilize the expert pharmacy services of Vanguard to service our resident medication orders. They deliver medications daily and work hard to facilitate any insurance issues for you. This allows families to rest at ease, knowing that all of the medications ordered by the physician will be delivered to Cypress Creek in a timely manner and billed directly to your insurance company. Trained staff supervise residents taking their medications as prescribed by a physician. If necessary, an LPN or RN can also be utilized to administer medications.
Do we have a choice of meals?
We have a varied menu that is prepared with input from our residents, Executive Chef, and a dietician. Three healthy, delicious meals a day are provided as well as homemade snacks. The soup course, a resident favorite, is also offered each afternoon. Our residents enjoy outings to area restaurants with family and friends or as scheduled through our activities department.
What's there to do?
There are a variety of activities that take place both on site as well as off premises. We have a wonderful, energetic Acivities team and dedicated volunteers who keep our residents happily engaged. Scheduled activities begin right after breakfast and continue throughout the day. We have morning exercises and a walking club, frequent musical entertainment, as well as a variety of activities such as reading, reminiscing, gardening, crafts, cooking and gaming. We also have several religious services throughout the week. Our residents enjoy outings on our bus, which is customized to accomodate wheelchairs. Trips to restaurants, shopping, the library or even just a joyride are very popular activities.
